(Phnom Penh): Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, Spokesperson for Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defence, announced that on Thursday afternoon (Aug. 7), Cambodian Minister of National Defence Tea Seiha will lead a special session of the Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee (GBC), with observers from the United States, China, and Malaysia in attendance.
To ensure neutrality and transparency, Cambodia has invited representatives from the US, China, and Malaysia to observe the meeting. According to Cambodia, these three countries have played key roles in facilitating the Cambodia–Thailand ceasefire agreement reached on 28 July.
The spokesperson spoke on Thursday (Aug. 7) during a press conference.
She added that on Thursday morning (Aug. 7), Minister Tea Seiha and the acting minister of national defence of Thailand paid a courtesy call on Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim ahead of the GBC meeting scheduled for the afternoon.
“Minister Tea Seiha will lead a high-level delegation of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces to attend the special session of the Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee (GBC), with observers from Malaysia, the US, and China participating in the meeting on the afternoon of 7 August 2025,” the spokesperson underscored.
