(Phnom Penh): Pen Bona, Minister Delegate Attached to the Prime Minister and Head of the Royal Government Spokesperson Unit, stated that Thailand has consistently used deceptive tactics to shift blame onto Cambodia since the outbreak of armed conflict between the two countries.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday evening (Aug. 6), Pen Bona stated, "Since before the outbreak of the armed conflict on July 24, 2025, Thailand has kept using the same tactics. They twisted what they did to Cambodia as if Cambodia did it to them. This kind of trick is what we, Cambodians, call the ‘monkey eats rice, spills it on the goat’s mouth’. They [Thailand] invaded us because they desire our land and our temples, but they lied to their own citizens and to the international community claiming that it was Cambodia who had invaded their country and wanted their temples. They provoke us in every possible way and later accuse Cambodia of being provocative.”

Pen Bona alleged that Thailand had carefully planned the initial armed attacks and deliberately violated the ceasefire agreement, only to turn around and accuse Cambodia of breaking it. He emphasized that Cambodia has remained committed to the ceasefire, while Thailand actively undermined it.

He emphasied that Thailand fabricated and spread disinformation across various platforms, and then hypocritically accused Cambodia of doing the same. He added such such move is a deliberate campaign to mislead the international community into believing Cambodia is the aggressor, when in fact, the truth is the opposite.
