(Phnom Penh): Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, Spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defence, said that the Cambodia–Thailand border situation remained calm this morning. However, Anseh area, following the removal of barbed wire by Thailand, is currently under close observation by Cambodian forces.

The spokesperson spoke on Wednesday (Aug. 6) during a press conference.

The situation in Anseh is under the highest level of surveillance by Cambodian forces in order to reinforce the implementation of the ceasefire spirit, which Cambodia strictly respects as agreed upon in Putrajaya, Malaysia on 28 July 2025,” Maly Socheata underscored.

The spokesperson recalled the terms of the ceasefire agreement between Cambodian and Thai armed forces, which include, (1) Cease all firing; (2) No troop movements or reinforcements; (3) Military units of both sides must remain in their respective positions as of the ceasefire; (4) Establish a joint communication working group.

She further stated that through strong and unwavering commitment by the Royal Government, alongside the disciplined efforts of the armed forces, Cambodia remains fully and sincerely committed to implementing the ceasefire conditions to swiftly improve the situation.

“The Cambodian armed forces support the Royal Government’s stance in resolving conflicts through international law and peaceful means. Cambodia seeks peaceful, friendly, cooperative, and development-oriented borders with all neighbouring countries, while defending its territorial integrity with firm and courageous resolve,” the spokesperson added.
