(Phnom Penh): Pen Bona, Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister and Head of the Royal Government Spokesperson Unit, stated that the international community now clearly sees through Thailand’s attempts to distort the truth regarding the ongoing border dispute.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday (Aug. 6) on the current status of the Cambodia-Thailand ceasefire, Pen Bona urged all Cambodians to unite in strong national solidarity behind the Royal Armed Forces and the government’s leadership, which he praised for their unwavering commitment to defending the nation’s territorial integrity.

He criticized Thai officials and media for persistently spreading false accusations portraying Cambodia as the aggressor and claiming Cambodian troops fired first during the ceasefire. However, both the Cambodian public and the international community can clearly see that it was the Thai side that violated the ceasefire agreement signed by both governments on 28 July 2025, in Malaysia.

Pen Bona emphasized that Cambodia has suffered enough from war and conflict, and has chosen the path of peace. Under the “Win-Win Policy” introduced by former Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Cambodia has enjoyed nearly a decade of stability and development.

“When has Cambodia ever provoked war or violated another’s territory?” he asked. “We are not the ones firing first. These accusations are distortions to shift blame.”

He reaffirmed that the Cambodian people both at home and abroad stand united in rejecting Thailand’s claims, recognizing them as unjust provocations.

“The world sees the truth now. Thailand cannot just say whatever it wants anymore,” he declared. “Let us continue to stand together behind our brave armed forces, and behind our wise, experienced leadership, whose strategies secure both peace and sovereignty.”

Pen Bona concluded by noting that Cambodia’s unity is its greatest strength, empowering it to win not only on the battlefield but also through diplomacy, law, and political resolve.
