(Phnom Penh): Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defence, called on Thailand to immediately cease all hostile actions, dismantle the barbed-wire barriers, and withdraw its mercenaries from Cambodian sovereign territory.
Maly Socheata spoke on Tuesday (Aug. 5) during a press conference.
She, meanwhile, said Cambodia calls on the international community, particularly partner countries that have worked tirelessly to help achieve this hard-won ceasefire and wish to see it fully and effectively implemented, to demand that Thailand immediately stop its aggressive actions and strictly respect international law, especially Cambodia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“In addition, Cambodia urged Thailand to respect and implement all the terms and conditions of the ceasefire agreement, not just words but through concrete action,” the spokesperson underscored.
As of 9 a.m. this morning, the situation at the frontline along Preah Vihear and Oddar Meanchey provinces remains calm and steady. Cambodian armed forces are standing firm and fully vigilant in fulfilling their duty.
Cambodia remains fully committed to respecting and implementing the ceasefire agreement achieved on 28 July 2025 in Putrajaya, Malaysia.
