(Phnom Penh): On Tuesday (Aug. 5), Chan Narith, Under Secretary of State of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, called on Cambodian citizens, particularly families holding Equity Cards and ID Poor Cards who have recently returned from Thailand, to register for vocational and technical training under the Royal Government’s TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) program.
The program is designed to provide free vocational training, monthly stipends, and practical skills to youth from poor and vulnerable households, enabling them to access growing employment opportunities in Cambodia.
Chan Narith further noted that, according to the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, there is currently a high demand for skilled labour in Cambodia.
He also highlighted that, thanks to the efforts of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, the US has reduced Cambodia’s reciprocal tariffs to only 19 per cent, paving the way for increased foreign investment and the creation of more jobs, particularly for skilled workers.
It should be noted that the TVET program, officially launched on 14 November 2023, offers free vocational and technical training to youth from poor and at-risk families, along with a monthly stipend of approximately USD 70.
