(Phnom Penh): Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of Cambodia, stated that there is a strong possibility that Thai forces could launch a military offensive against Cambodia tonight, citing a recent announcement by the spokesperson of the Ministry of National Defence.

Given this situation, Samdech Techo announced that he will not be able to preside over the Senate session scheduled for the morning of 4 August. Regardless of whether fighting breaks out, he will remain on 24-hour joint military command duty.

Posting on social media, Hun Sen stated: “I will not lead the Senate session tomorrow because I must remain on joint command duty around the clock. His Excellency Ouch Borith, First Vice President of the Senate, will preside in my place.”

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also apologized in advance to compatriots who may send birthday greetings on August 5, saying he may be unable to read or reply due to being fully occupied with urgent matters of war and peace, which he described as vital issues for the survival of the nation.
