(Phnom Penh): Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defence strongly denied allegations made by Thai media claiming that Cambodian drones had entered Thai airspace.
At a press conference held on Sunday morning (Aug. 3), Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defence, firmly rejected what she described as baseless accusations from Thai media. According to the spokesperson, Thai media have repeatedly distorted the narrative to portray Cambodia as the aggressor, accusing it of initiating attacks, using heavy weaponry, targeting civilian areas, and violating ceasefire agreements.
She stated: “Recently, Thailand circulated a falsified video along with misleading content, alleging that the drone shown belonged to Cambodia and had flown into Thai territory. Such actions do not contribute to improving the situation; instead, they unnecessarily escalate tensions.”
She added that Cambodia is urging Thailand to immediately cease such actions. Furthermore, Cambodia called on the Thai side to refrain from flying drones into Cambodian airspace, warning that the Kingdom will take appropriate measures in response to any violations of its sovereignty.
