(Phnom Penh): Chum Sounry, Spokesperson for Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said Cambodian Foreign Ministry urged Thai side, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to refrain from making accusations against Cambodia, and instead engage in good, fast dialogue under the agreed ceasefire framework. Cambodia remains fully committed to the full and sincere implementation of the ceasefire agreement.

Chum Sounry spoke on Saturday (Aug. 2) during a press conference on the current status of the Cambodia–Thailand ceasefire.

“Cambodian Foreign Ministry urged Thai side, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to refrain from making accusations against Cambodia, and instead engage in good, fast dialogue under the agreed ceasefire framework. Cambodia remains fully committed to the full and sincere implementation of the ceasefire agreement,” the spokesperson underscored.

The Ministry wishes to reaffirm that Cambodia remains fully committed to the ceasefire agreement reached during the special meeting in Malaysia on 28 July 2025, and has consistently exercised restraint in line with the agreement terms.

Cambodia repeats its categorical rejection of Thailand's baseless accusation of ceasefire violation by Cambodia. Cambodia calls for a neutral ASEAN observer mission to assess objectively the situation on both sides of the border to ensure the strict implementation of the ceasefire.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation strongly denies Thailand's accusation of attacks on civilians by Cambodian armed forces. Cambodian forces have operated strictly in accordance with international humanitarian law to avoid harm to civilian populations.

In this context, Cambodia urges joint verification under ASEAN supervision rather than unilateral claims meant to shape public opinion. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation wishes to underline Cambodia's commitment to international law and de-escalation, and continues to adhere to the ASEAN Charter, the UN Charter, and the ceasefire agreement. Cambodia looks forward to de-escalating tensions through the upcoming General Border Committee meeting.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation reaffirms Cambodia's unfavouring commitment to peace, truth, and international cooperation.
