(Phnom Penh): Karre Mouy, an esteemed annual program dedicated to nurturing and empowering emerging filmmakers across Cambodia and the ASEAN region, held its 2025 Short Film Producer Program Pitching Day on Sunday, 27 July 2025 at Legend Cinema Olympia. The workshop and events organized by Kongchak Pictures and Anti-Archive showcased the creative talents of new voices in cinema, providing participants with invaluable development opportunities, mentorship, and a platform to pitch their projects to industry professionals.
This year’s edition attracted twice the attendance compared to the previous year, signaling growing enthusiasm and support within the creative community for young filmmakers. The week-long program culminated in a dynamic pitching day where participants presented their short film projects to a distinguished panel of judges and an engaged audience.
Before the final event, the Karre Mouy’s 2025 participants engaged in an intensive six-day workshop designed to equip emerging filmmakers with essential skills and industry knowledge. Throughout this immersive program, they received expert mentorship from acclaimed film producers and industry professionals Loy Te, Daniel Mattes, Sreylin Meas, Weijie Lai, and Raymond Phathanavirangoon. This hands-on guidance helped participants refine their projects and prepare them for the pitching day, fostering both creative and professional growth within a collaborative environment.
For the first time, Karre Mouy welcomed an ASEAN projects to the program, reflecting their commitment to bridging creative communities across the region. They believe that encouraging young filmmakers to connect and collaborate early in their careers is vital. This cross-border engagement widens participants’ perspectives, introducing them to the realities and opportunities of filmmaking on a global scale. By nurturing these connections, they hope to equip emerging talents with the open-mindedness and confidence needed to pursue international careers and contribute to a vibrant, interconnected film industry.
The panel of judges, composed of Lorna Tee, Danech San, and Eric Tsang, offered thoughtful and sensitive feedback and questions throughout the event, supporting the participants’ artistic growth and professionalism.
