(Phnom Penh): Chum Sounry, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, announced that the Cambodian government is calling for the urgent establishment of an independent and impartial investigative team to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire agreement.

Chum Sounry spoke on Thursday (Jul. 31) during a press conference on the current status of the Cambodia–Thailand ceasefire.

He stated, “To ensure the truth and accountability, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation reiterates the Cambodian government’s call for the immediate creation of an independent and impartial investigation team to monitor the ceasefire, as agreed during the special meeting held in Malaysia.”

According to Chum Sounry, Cambodia remains fully committed to international law, ASEAN centrality, and peaceful conflict resolution. He stressed Cambodia’s call for Thailand to return to the path of reconciliation based on mutual respect, transparency, and regional cooperation.

Cambodia is also ready to work with Thailand, other ASEAN countries, and the international community to ensure that the ceasefire is upheld and that peace is restored along the border.
