(Phnom Penh): The Club of Cambodian Journalists (CCJ) issued a statement on the continuous dissemination of false information by certain Thai media outlets regarding the situation of the conflict along the Cambodia-Thailand border.

“The Club of Cambodian Journalists (CCJ) continues to observe that some media outlets are still disseminating inaccurate information regarding the situation of the conflict along the Cambodia-Thailand border, particularly in relation to the ceasefire agreement reached by both parties on July 28, 2025, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia,” according to a statement seen by Fresh News on Thursday (Jul. 31).

“The CCJ has closely monitored and noted that certain Thai media outlets, such as Khaosod and The Nation Thailand, have been and continue to disseminate false information. Such reporting not only reflects a lack of journalistic professionalism, which undermines public trust in the media during this critical time, but also causes confusion and negatively affects the real situation along the border and the efforts made by both sides to seek a peaceful resolution with international support.

The CCJ calls on those Thai media outlets to adhere strictly to professional journalism standards by verifying sources carefully and reporting responsibly. The CCJ urges them to help de-escalate tensions through news that avoids nationalist or racial incitement and instead encourages dialogue and positive engagement between the two countries.

The Club of Cambodian Journalists remains committed to standing with journalists in both countries who report with professionalism and ethical standards, and reaffirms its dedication to defending press freedom and combating misinformation and disinformation (fake news).”
