(Phnom Penh): Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence General Tea Seiha chaired a high-level preparatory meeting on Thursday (Jul. 31) ahead of the upcoming special session of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC), scheduled for August 4, 2025, on Cambodian soil.

According to Ministry of National Defence spokesperson Lieutenant General Maly Socheata at a press briefing on the current status of the Cambodia-Thailand ceasefire, the preparatory session was convened to ensure the smooth and effective conduct of the GBC meeting, which both sides have agreed to hold as part of efforts to reinforce the ceasefire reached earlier this week.

She added that the upcoming session demonstrates Cambodia’s commitment to implementing bilateral agreements and establishing a functional mechanism to verify and sustain the ceasefire.

To that end, Cambodia has set up both a monitoring and investigative team tasked with verifying ceasefire compliance and resolving any disputes or violations.
