(Phnom Penh): On Thursday (Jul. 31), Aun Pornmoniroth, Minister of Economy and Finance, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Cambodia Kantha Bopha Foundation, presided over a board meeting of the Cambodia Kantha Bopha Foundation.
The meeting focused on the following key points:
1. Achievements in the first half of 2025:
During the first six months of 2025, Cambodia Kantha Bopha Foundation generated approximately USD 22.16 million in total revenue, reflecting a 3 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2024. This revenue came from various sources including annual contributions from the Royal Government of Cambodia, the Cambodian Red Cross, ticket revenue from Angkor Archaeological Park, donations from philanthropists, and especially, contributions from the 2025 “10,000 Riel from 10,000 People” campaign led by Cambodian Prime Minister’s Spouse Pich Chanmony Hun Manet, Honorary President of Cambodia Kantha Bopha Foundation.
In parallel, the Foundation disbursed over USD 5 million to meet the financial needs of Kantha Bopha Hospital, in addition to the USD 10 million provided annually by the Royal Government through the Ministry of Health and the Swiss Kantha Bopha Foundation to support the hospital’s operations.
2. Strategic directions for the second half of 2025:
The board endorsed the Foundation's continued fundraising and awareness campaigns, including meetings with ministry/provincial fundraising committees, collaboration with public figures to amplify outreach, engaging financial institutions under MoUs, promoting the Foundation in major universities across Phnom Penh and provinces, producing promotional videos about the Foundation and the hospital, organising a memorial event for Beat Richner, founder of Kantha Bopha, drafting congratulatory messages for special occasions, preparing 2026 fundraising plans targeting local and international donors, designing and printing the 2026 calendar, creating a new website and donation-friendly app, and mobilizing personal and family donations during important events.
3. Kantha Bopha Hospital’s Service Report (H1 2025):
In the first half of 2025, the hospital provided free medical services to infants, children, and pregnant women, covering as follows:
- 503,233 outpatient consultations,
- 96,237 serious paediatric inpatient admissions,
- 3,964 dengue cases,
- 16,118 paediatric surgeries,
- 550 congenital heart surgeries,
- 51,797 prenatal checkups, and 9,471 deliveries across Jayavarman VII and Siem Reap Kantha Bopha hospitals.
The hospital also organised continuous medical training to strengthen staff capacity and spent around USD 22 million to sustain these operations.
The board also reviewed the progress of an inter-ministerial working group between the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Health, tasked with establishing a hospital governance mechanism.
Additionally, the meeting examined investment plans for expanding hospital infrastructure to accommodate more paediatric patients and reduce the current shortage of beds.
Aun Pornmoniroth concluded by encouraging all relevant stakeholders to continue their dedicated efforts to bring smiles and hope to children, infants, and pregnant women in need of healthcare and maternity services at Kantha Bopha Hospitals in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap.
