(Phnom Penh): Chum Sounry, Spokesperson for Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, rejected the accusation by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs that Cambodian armed forces violated the ceasefire agreement.
Chum Sounry spoke on Wednesday (Jul.30) during a press conference.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation firmly denies the groundless accusation made by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs during its press briefing on 29 July 2025, particularly the claim that Cambodian armed forces violated the ceasefire agreement,” the spokesperson underscored.
Following the meeting in Malaysia, the leaders of Cambodia and Thailand agreed to immediately implement an unconditional ceasefire, effective from midnight on 28 July 2025.
He affirmed that Cambodia has strictly adhered to the ceasefire agreement, and Thailand’s claim of Cambodia violating the truce is baseless and contrary to the facts. He further dismissed allegations that Cambodia had fired upon civilians or used anti-personnel mines as groundless.
The spokesperson added that Cambodia remains committed to its international obligations and condemned the exploitation of humanitarian issues for political gain. He also expressed regret that Thailand continues to issue accusations instead of engaging in sincere dialogue.
