(Preah Vihear): On Wednesday (Jul. 30), Cambodian military commander informed 13 foreign military attachés and diplomats that Thai forces abducted 20 Cambodian soldiers (one managed to escape, and two are suspected to have been killed) following the implementation of the ceasefire agreement.
According to the commander, the Cambodian troops were in the process of shaking hands with Thai soldiers at the Chom Tae when the Thai side suddenly detained them.
The Cambodian military emphasised that after the ceasefire officially took effect on the morning of 29 July 2025, Cambodian troops approached the Thai side in good faith to shake hands. However, while returning, Thai forces abruptly pointed their guns and abducted the Cambodian troops.
As of the afternoon of 30 July 2025, the Thai military has not yet released the detained Cambodian soldiers, according to the Cambodian commander.
