(Phnom Penh): Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, Spokesperson of the Ministry of National Defence, said Lieutenant General Rat Dararath, Secretary of State of the Ministry of National Defence, led a delegation of foreign military attachés and relevant stakeholders in Cambodia to inspect the Cambodia–Thailand border. This visit was made to demonstrate Cambodia’s firm commitment to monitoring the actual situation and locations related to the Cambodia–Thailand border issue.

Maly Socheata spoke on Wednesday (Jul. 3) at a press conference.

“Malaysia, in its capacity as the Chair of ASEAN, has sent a delegation led by the Chief of the Malaysian Armed Forces to Cambodia. Today, the Cambodian Ministry of National Defence is leading foreign military attachés based in Cambodia and other relevant actors to observe both the locations and real-time situation along the Cambodia–Thailand border,” the spokesperson underscored.

She added that both sides have agreed to hold a meeting of the Cambodia–Thailand Joint Boundary Commission (JBC) on 4 August 2025, hosted by Cambodia.

Moreover, the spokesperson confirmed that as a next step to ensure full and strict implementation of the ceasefire agreement, a mechanism and monitoring team will be established.

This includes the creation of an investigation team to verify and ensure compliance with the ceasefire.

“The chief of the Malaysian Armed Forces will establish an investigation team, headed by the Malaysian military attaché, to conduct a mission on 30 July. The main goal is to ensure that the implementation of the ceasefire agreement between the armed forces of the two countries proceeds effectively and with positive outcomes,” she continued.
