(Phnom Penh): Pen Bona, Cambodian Delegate Minister and Chairman of the Royal Government Spokesperson Unit, affirmed that Cambodia rejects all allegations claiming it has violated the ceasefire agreement, stressing that Cambodia considers the ceasefire highly important for peace in the country and in the region.
Pen Bona spoke on Tuesday (Jul. 29) during a press briefing on the implementation of Cambodia-Thailand ceasefire agreement.
“I would like to reaffirm the unwavering position of the Royal Government of Cambodia in fully respecting the immediate and unconditional ceasefire agreement reached on 28 July 2025, during the special meeting in Malaysia, which officially took effect at midnight (00:00) last night,” the spokesperson underscored.
He emphasised that the Royal Government considers this agreement to be of great significance for maintaining peace between Cambodia and Thailand, as well as regional peace and stability.
Furthermore, the spokesperson stressed that, as a peace-loving nation that upholds international law, Cambodia has strictly abided by the agreement and instructed all front-line armed forces to remain calm and exercise maximum restraint.
The Royal Government spokesperson categorically rejected any reports accusing Cambodia of breaching the ceasefire, labelling them as false, fabricated, and baseless accusations that contribute nothing to the preservation of the agreed ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand.
Pen Bona reiterated that the Royal Government of Cambodia attaches great importance to the ceasefire agreement, which must be effectively implemented not only to safeguard peace between Cambodia and Thailand but also to ensure the long-term sustainability of peace in the region.
