(Phnom Penh): Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, Spokesperson of the Ministry of National Defence, announced the outcomes of the meeting between Cambodia’s Military Region 5 and Thailand’s Military Region 1 at the Kbal Spean checkpoint.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday (July 29, 2025), she stated that both sides exchanged greetings and agreed to uphold the ceasefire, halt troop reinforcements, avoid actions that could escalate tensions, and maintain direct communication to address any issues. Matters beyond their authority will be referred to higher-level commands for consultation.

Clashes between Cambodia and Thailand began on July 24, 2025, near Ta Moan Temple in Oddar Meanchey province, following an initial attack by Thai forces. The conflict later spread to other border areas.

Following a special meeting in Malaysia, both sides agreed to an immediate and unconditional ceasefire effective from 24:00 (local time) on 28 July 2025. They also decided to hold informal meetings between regional commanders on 29 July 2025 and a General Border Committee (GBC) meeting on 4 August 2025, hosted by Cambodia.
