(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet led a Cambodian delegation on Monday morning (Jul. 28) to attend a special meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The special meeting is hosted by Malaysia, co-organised by the United States and with participation of China. The purpose of this meeting is to achieve an immediate ceasefire, which was initiated by President Donald Trump and agreed to by both prime ministers of Cambodia and Thailand.

Leaders from Thailand and Cambodia are expected to meet in Putrajaya at 3 pm today for a high-level negotiation aimed at halting deadly border clashes that have erupted between the two Southeast Asian neighbours.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that he is expected to chair the meeting, having held separate discussions with Thai and Cambodian leaders over the past week.
