(Phnom Penh): Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, Spokesperson of the Ministry of National Defense, said that day by day, Thailand has intensified its attacks on Cambodia without any sign of de-escalation, despite appeals from the international community.

Maly Socheata spoke on Sunday (Jul. 27) during a press conference.

The armed clash between Cambodia and Thailand began on the morning of 24 July 2025 at the Ta Moan Thom Temple area in Oddar Meanchey Province and has since spread to other points along the Cambodia–Thailand border in Oddar Meanchey and Preah Vihear provinces. The fighting erupted after Thai forces launched the first attack at the Ta Moan Temple site.

Maly Socheata revealed that until now, the Thai army continues to invade Cambodia violently and ruthlessly, expanding its attacks indiscriminately, showing blatant disregard for international law.

“Day by day, the Thai side becomes more aggressive, deploying its troops and intensifying attacks on Cambodia without taking measures to reduce tensions, even under mounting international pressure,” the spokesperson underscored.

On 27 July 2025, Thailand rejected ceasefire proposals from US President Donald Trump, the United Nations, and the UN Security Council, while Cambodia had already prepared itself for a ceasefire.
