(Phnom Penh): Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, Spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defence, strongly condemned and categorically rejected the baseless accusations by the Thai side that Cambodia had fired explosives into Lao territory.

She spoke at a press conference on Saturday (Jul. 26), marking the third day of Thailand’s aggression against Cambodian sovereignty.

“The Ministry of National Defence of Cambodia categorically rejects and strongly condemns the baseless accusations by the Thai side that Cambodia had fired explosives into Lao territory, despite the fact that Lao authorities have neither made such allegations nor launched any investigation into the matter. Instead, it is the Thai side that is spreading distorted and misleading information targeting Cambodia," the spokesperson underscored.

The Cambodian Defence Ministry’s spokesperson further noted that Thai communication channels are inconsistent. While Thailand’s 2nd Army Region publicly accused Cambodia, the Royal Thai Army’s main ground force spokesperson stated that there is no clear information. This contradiction, she observed, reveals a lack of coordination and coherence within the Thai side’s communication efforts.
