(Phnom Penh): Maly Socheata, spokesperson for Cambodian Ministry of National Defence, stated that Thai military attacks have expanded to other provinces, including artillery strikes in Thma Da commune, Pursat province.
She spoke at a press conference on Saturday (Jul. 26), marking the third day of Thailand’s aggression against Cambodian sovereignty.
She reported, “Thailand’s aggression has spread to various Cambodian provinces. At 5:02 a.m. on 26 July 2025, Thai forces launched five artillery shells targeting multiple locations in the Thma Da commune area of Veal Veng district, Pursat province.”
Additionally, the spokesperson revealed that the Cambodian military’s 4th Military Region came under attack from Thai forces at three specific locations, such as Ta Thav, Chom Tae, and Veal Intri, starting at 5:00 a.m. on 26 July 2025.
The Ministry of National Defence strongly condemned this premeditated and unprovoked act of aggression by Thailand, stressing that such actions are a serious violation of international law and the principles outlined in the UN Charter. The attacks have endangered innocent civilian lives and disrupted peace and stability in the region.
Cambodia has called on the international community to issue the strongest condemnation of Thailand’s illegal aggression. The Cambodian government demands that Thailand immediately cease all hostile activities and comply with its obligations under international law. While Cambodia remains committed to resolving disputes through peaceful means and in line with international law, it reserves its right to self-defence as stipulated in Article 51 of the UN Charter.
The Royal Cambodian Armed Forces have reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to defending the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the safety of its people against Thailand’s brutal acts of aggression.
