(Phnom Penh): At 05:02 a.m. Saturday (Jul. 26), Thailand carried out an unprovoked and premeditated artillery strike against Cambodian territory at several sites within Ekareach village, Thma Da commune, Veal Veng district, Pursat province, prompting a strong condemnation from Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defence.

The ministry called the attack a blatant violation of Cambodia’s sovereignty and international law, particularly the Charter of the United Nations. It warned that such acts endanger civilians and threaten regional peace and stability.

Cambodia urges the international community to condemn Thailand’s unlawful aggression and demands an immediate halt to all hostile actions. While reaffirming its commitment to peaceful resolution, Cambodia stressed that it reserves the right to self-defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter.

The Royal Cambodian Armed Forces have vowed to defend the nation’s sovereignty and the safety of its people against any further acts of aggression.
