(Pursat): On the morning of July 25, 2025, 114 families (354 people, including 199 women and 164 children, with 18 military families) were evacuated from the conflict-prone border area in Thma Da commune, Veal Veng district, to a safe zone in Promoy commune, Pursat province.

The evacuation was led by Keo Rottanak, Minister of Mines and Energy and head of the government working group for Pursat, together with Khoy Rida, Governor of Pursat and Chairman of the Provincial Administration Unity Command.

During their visit, the two leaders conveyed messages of care and encouragement from Samdech Techo Hun Sen, former Prime Minister and President of the Senate, and Prime Minister Hun Manet, assuring the families that the government prioritizes their safety and well-being. They confirmed that the safe zone is fully equipped with clean water, electricity, medical teams, and sufficient food supplies. Vehicles remain available to assist any remaining residents who wish to evacuate.

Keo Rottanak and Khoy Rida emphasized the government’s commitment to protecting national sovereignty and called Thai military actions “foreign aggression.” They urged the evacuated families to maintain hygiene, ensure clean drinking water, and prepare to resume normal life once the border situation stabilizes. They also encouraged residents to continue their livelihoods and plant more trees once peace is restored.
