(Oddar Meanchey): The Thai military has acted with brutality by firing heavy artillery to destroy the temple, Buddha statues, and sacred sites at Wat Ta Moan Saen Chey. The shelling of the temple and the killing of an Achar by the Thai army occurred on 24 July 2025 — the day the Thai aggressors launched attacks and ignited war with Cambodia.

Wat Ta Moan Saen Chey is located in Banteay Ampil district, Oddar Meanchey province, near the foothills of Dangrek Mountain.

Under the barrage of artillery fire from the ruthless Thai soldiers, the prayer hall and all sacred sites within the temple compound were completely destroyed. Even more tragically, the Achar, who is Dharma practitioner and caretaker of the temple, was killed under the heavy bombardment of the Thai military in the most inhumane manner.

The deceased Achar, named Ji Kheang, known as Ta Sok, was over 70 years old. His body was found buried under the rubble, and only in the evening of July 25, 2025, was the body retrieved by the Cambodian military for traditional funeral rites.

The Achar had been killed since the day before, but his body could not be recovered due to the area being an active battlefield with heavy artillery bombardment from the Thai army. Only this afternoon, when the shelling subsided, did the Cambodian forces manage to retrieve his remains.

It is important to note that Banteay Ampil district, near Dangrek Mountain, remains an intense battlefield where the Thai military continues its heavy artillery attacks. Many civilian homes, roads, and trees bear the devastating marks of Thai shelling.
