(Oddar Meanchey): Met Measpheakdey, Deputy Governor of Oddar Meanchey province, confirmed to Fresh News on Friday (Jul. 25) that at least one civilian has been killed and five others injured following heavy artillery attacks by invading Thai forces.

According to Pheakdey, the victim was the chief monk of Ta Moan Sen Chey Pagoda, who was killed by bombs dropped from Thai fighter jets. In the wake of the July 24 airstrikes, which completely destroyed the pagoda, monks and residents fled overnight to Siem Reap province for safety.

The attacks have also destroyed numerous homes, forcing thousands of families to evacuate to secure areas to escape ongoing artillery fire.
