(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Chum Sounry outlined that Thailand has violated both the Charter of the United Nations and the ASEAN Charter.

Chum Sounry spoke on Thursday (Jul. 24) during a press conference hosted by the Royal Government Spokesperson Unit in response to the escalating armed clashes along the Cambodia–Thailand border.

“This morning, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement condemning the military aggression as a violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Cambodia. It is also an act that breaches international law, as outlined in the Charter of the United Nations and the ASEAN Charter, both of which are binding commitments for the two member states," Chum Sounry explained.

Since the early morning of 24 July 2025, Thai armed forces launched unprovoked, premeditated and deliberate attacks on Cambodian positions along the border areas, including Ta Moan Thom Temple, Ta Krabei Temple, and the Emerald Triangle area, in the provinces of Preah Vihear and Oddar Meanchey.

Immediately following the incident, Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued an official statement condemning the Thai aggression, considering it as a blatant and serious violation of international law.
