(Phnom Penh): The National Assembly of Cambodia issued a statement expressing deep regret over the incidents along the Cambodia–Thailand border on the morning of July 24, 2025, where Thai armed forces launched deliberate and premeditated attacks on Cambodian positions in border areas, including Ta Moan Thom Temple, Ta Krabei Temple, the Emerald Triangle area, and other locations in Oddar Meanchey and Preah Vihear provinces.

The National Assembly strongly condemned the aggressive military actions by Thai armed forces, which violated Cambodia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and constituted a serious breach of international law, including the fundamental principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter and the ASEAN Charter—actions that could affect the progress toward building a peaceful ASEAN Community.

The National Assembly expressed full support for the indispensable leadership of Samdech Techo Hun Sen in commanding the Cambodian armed forces, alongside the prime minister, the minister of National Defence, the commander-in-chief, and commanders at all levels, to counter Thailand’s armed aggression as an exercise of Cambodia’s right to self-defence in protecting sovereignty, territorial integrity, citizens’ lives, and national interests.

The National Assembly declared its support for Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet in sending a letter to the UN Security Council requesting an urgent meeting to seek intervention to end the Thai military aggression against Cambodia’s sovereign territory.

The National Assembly called on all Cambodian citizens to remain united, continue their daily activities as normal, and trust in the Royal Government of Cambodia and the heroic, courageous spirit of the Cambodian armed forces defending the nation’s territorial integrity at the frontlines.

The National Assembly firmly believes that justice, based on international law, will bring long-lasting peace, in line with the peace leadership vision of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate, as declared during the first session of the National Assembly and Senate. The Cambodian government has also brought the disputes over the Emerald Triangle area, Ta Moan Thom Temple, Ta Moan Tauch Temple, and Ta Krabei Temple to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on 15 June 2025.
