(Phnom Penh): Amid the ongoing clashes between Cambodian and Thai military forces on Thursday morning (Jul. 24), Cambodian Information Minister Neth Pheaktra issued a statement urging journalists and social media users to avoid sharing sensitive military information that could compromise operational security.

The minister emphasized that official updates on the border situation will only be released through four legitimate sources such as (1) The top national leadership; (2) The Ministry of National Defence; (3) The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and (4) The Office of the Government Spokesperson.

He also cautioned that any other sources should not be considered official or reliable.

In addition, the minister strongly appealed to all journalists and social media users not to disseminate any unverified information, images, or videos, especially content showing military positions, troop movements, or the deployment of weaponry of any kind. He called for strict adherence to information discipline to safeguard national security.
