(Phnom Penh): Samdech Techo Hun Sen affirmed that the Cambodian armed forces have no choice but to retaliate against the advancing Thai military. He urged citizens to stay calm, refrain from panic buying or hoarding goods, and avoid driving up prices.

Samdech Techo wrote on his social media on Thursday (Jul. 24) as follows:

“Today, with the Thai military’s aggressive actions and the closure of the Ta Moan Thom Temple, following the orders issued yesterday, Thai troops have already started attacking Cambodian forces. The Cambodian military has no other choice but to respond and counterattack.

I urge all Cambodian compatriots not to panic, not to stockpile rice or goods, or raise prices.

Please continue daily activities as normal across all sectors and locations, except for border areas of Oddar Meanchey and Preah Vihear provinces, which are under fire from the invading Thai military.

Please trust in the Royal Government and our armed forces.”
