(Nice): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet held a bilateral meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron on 10 June 2025 on the sidelines of the Third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3).
During the meeting, President Emmanuel Macron warmly welcomed Samdech Thipadei and the Cambodian delegation once again to France and confirmed his intention to undertake an official visit to Cambodia in 2026.
President Macron congratulated Cambodia on its achievements under the leadership of Samdech Thipadei and reaffirmed that the French Government would fully support Cambodia in hosting the 20th Francophonie Summit in 2026.
For his part, Samdech Thipadei expressed his gratitude to the French president for the warm reception and conveyed his pleasure at meeting him again. He thanked President Macron for France’s wholehearted support of Cambodia’s forthcoming hosting of the 20th Francophonie Summit.
Regarding bilateral relations, Samdech Thipadei commended the strong and growing cooperation between Cambodia and France and highly valued the joint efforts to develop a roadmap for elevating Cambodia–France relations to a “Strategic Partnership.”
Both leaders discussed ways to further strengthen and expand bilateral cooperation in key potential sectors, including trade and the economy, defence and security, energy, and culture.
President Macron announced that he would dispatch a delegation, led by France’s minister of trade, to Cambodia to further promote trade and economic collaboration. He also acknowledged the global recognition of Cambodia’s expertise and contributions in mine clearance and affirmed France’s continued support for Cambodia’s national defence sector.
On multilateral cooperation, both leaders exchanged views on priority areas of collaboration between the two countries within the frameworks of ASEAN and the United Nations.
