(Nice): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet held a bilateral working meeting with Emomali Rahmon, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, in Nice, France, on Monday (Jun. 9), on the sidelines of the Third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3).

During the meeting, President Emomali Rahmon expressed his pleasure at holding bilateral talks with Samdech Thipadei, viewing the engagement as a meaningful contribution to the strengthening and expansion of relations and cooperation between the two countries. President Rahmon also recalled the official visit of Samdech Techo Hun Sen to Tajikistan in 2019.

President Rahmon highlighted Tajikistan’s considerable potential in the energy sector—particularly in clean energy—and reiterated the country’s target of achieving 100 per cent clean energy usage by 2038. He noted that Cambodia holds significant promise in the field of agriculture, with the capacity to ensure domestic food security while also producing a surplus for export to international markets.

He expressed strong confidence that under the visionary leadership of Samdech Thipadei, Cambodia–Tajikistan bilateral relations would continue to grow, delivering increased benefits to the peoples and nations of both countries.

For his part, Prime Minister Hun Manet underlined that the bilateral meeting served as an opportunity to explore the progression of cooperation in key sectors between the two nations. He also conveyed cordial greetings from Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate, to President Rahmon.

Moreover, Samdech Thipadei reaffirmed Cambodia’s dedication to further strengthening and broadening bilateral relations, noting that significant untapped potential for enhanced cooperation still exists.

The two leaders also discussed deepening collaboration across several priority areas, including clean energy, agriculture, and education. They exchanged invitations for future official visits at mutually appropriate times and assigned their respective foreign ministers the responsibility of strengthening ties, advancing cooperative initiatives, and coordinating future high-level visits.
