(Phnom Penh): Indonesian Ambassador to Cambodia Santo Said "Bringing matter to ICJ, it is an option for any country when having challenges related to their border dispute".
The ambassador spoke on Wednesday (Jun. 4) during a forum co-hosted by the Club of Cambodian Journalists and the Indonesian Embassy under the theme “Cambodia-Indonesia Diplomatic Relations and Development in Cambodia” at the Indonesian Embassy.
Ambassador Darmosumarto stated that Cambodia’s decision to bring disputes concerning the Ta Moan Thom Temple, Ta Moan Toch Temple, Ta Krabey Temple, and the Emerald Triangle area to the ICJ represents a legitimate and constructive resolution mechanism. He added that Indonesia and Malaysia had previously brought their own territorial disputes before the ICJ in The Hague.
"Bringing matter to ICJ, it is an option for any country when having challenges related to their border dispute," said ambassador.
It should be noted that in a statement posted on 1 June 2025 on social media, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet directed the Joint Commission on the Demarcation of Land Boundary (JBC) to carry out two key tasks:
First, to convene a JBC meeting with the Thai side in order to address ongoing border issues and to resume the work of boundary demarcation and the installation of border markers between the two countries.
Second, to include in the meeting agenda the proposal to summit the disputes over Ta Moan Thom Temple, Ta Moan Toch Temple, Ta Krabey Temple, and the Emerald Triangle area to the ICJ.
