(Phnom Penh): Cambodia will host Cambodia–Thailand Joint Commission on the Demarcation of Land Boundary (JBC) meeting on 14 June 2025 in Phnom Penh.

This announcement was confirmed on Wednesday (Jun. 4) by Chum Sounry, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to the spokesperson, during bilateral talks held in Tokyo on 30 May 2025, the foreign ministers of both countries agreed to uphold the spirit of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of 2000 on the survey and demarcation of the Cambodia–Thailand land boundary. They also agreed to make use of all existing mechanisms, particularly by expediting the technical meetings of the JBC to address border-related issues, with a focus on areas where recent incidents have occurred.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially notified the Thai side of this decision,” the spokesperson added.

He further emphasised that, with a firm commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity, Cambodia maintains a strong stance on transforming its border areas with neighbouring countries into zones of peace, friendship, cooperation, and development for the mutual benefit of both nations and peoples. Cambodia remains committed to resolving border issues through peaceful means, guided by technical mechanisms and international law.
