(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen proposed that Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Dith Tina, consider launching a competitive examination program for commune-level agricultural officers who are actively engaged with local farmers.
Samdech Techo spoke on Tuesday (Jun. 3) during the second day of joint congress of the National Assembly and Senate on the agricultural system.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen underscored, "The minister of Agriculture should consider initiating a competitive program involving the network of agricultural officers we have deployed. There should be clear evaluation criteria and a spirit of healthy competition."
Samdech Techo underlined that the competition should take place at two levels. At the provincial level, one outstanding officer should be selected from each province. At the national level, a specific number of top performers should be chosen from among the provincial winners to encourage a culture of learning and active collaboration with farmers.
It is worth noting that, in an effort to ensure fair pricing for agricultural products, the Royal Government, through the Ministry of Agriculture, has deployed key agricultural officers to communes to support farmers facing technical challenges in crop cultivation and animal husbandry.
