(Phnom Penh): Cambodian President of the Senate Hun Sen called on the Cambodian people to support the armed forces as a show of national unity and collective commitment to safeguarding the country.
Samdech Techo spoke on Thursday (May 29) in a special statement addressing the recent armed clash between Cambodian and Thai forces at the Emerald Triangle border area, Preah Vihear province.
Samdech Techo also added, “The spirit of national defence among the Cambodian people is strong. Our troops are currently being deployed to the frontlines, and they must be well supplied. Support must come not only from the government and the Ministry of National Defence, but from all sectors. Institutions with existing partnerships must also take part.”
On the occasion, Samdech Techo Hun Sen noted that some residents have begun evacuating from Techo Morakot Village. He added that Neak Oknha Leang Khun, Co-founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Chip Mong Group, had reached out to request permission to provide aid to the Cambodian troops stationed at the border. Samdech Techo also mentioned that a young Cambodian citizen had donated USD 10,000 to support the funeral of Suon Ron, as a gesture of solidarity with the armed forces.
