(Phnom Penh): In his welcoming remarks, Russian prosecutor general quoted the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, who emphasised that Cambodia is a long-standing reliable partner of Russia in the Asian region, with bilateral cooperation intensively developing on a wide range of issues.
The head of the Russian supervisory authority said that the most important area of work for Russian prosecutors for many decades has been participation in court proceedings. Also, the Russian prosecutor general's Office holds a leading position in ensuring law and order in the Russian Federation, has extensive powers in criminal, civil, administrative and arbitration proceedings, represents state interests in international and foreign judicial bodies and arbitrations.
“In the broadest sense, Russian prosecutors are involved in the formation of judicial practice, including preparing explanations for judges, reviews and acts of official interpretation issued by the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation. My official representatives work in the highest judicial bodies on a permanent basis,” prosecutor general of Russia added.
Having described the departmental University of the Prosecutor's Office – one of the leading scientific and educational centers in the field of legal research – Igor Krasnov proposed to Chiv Keng to organise cooperation on this track, including through joint forums and research. “The exchange of experience on issues related to digitalization of justice is no less important,” Russian Prosecutor General noted.
At the end of the meeting, the Head of the Russian supervisory authority expressed confidence that the good prospects for promoting professional dialogue between the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and the Supreme Court of the Kingdom of Cambodia can facilitate the development of competences of employees and upgrading their skills, as well as enhance improvement of the national legislations and practices.
