(Phnom Penh): Fresh AI, the first Khmer-language intelligent news application, has been officially launched in Cambodia.

Powered by a vast dataset exceeding 400 million words, the app is attracting growing interest from both the public and government officials. This innovative platform is a proud achievement of Cambodian developers.

A government official shared his positive experience after testing Fresh AI, using it to ask questions and search for various types of information. He commented that the platform is effective and user-friendly in Khmer, enabling users to access both summarised and detailed content with ease. Notably, it also includes official source links from Fresh News, providing valuable reference points.

The same official remarked that Fresh AI has the potential to become a preferred alternative to Google for information searches in the Khmer language. However, he acknowledged that many citizens remain unfamiliar with AI, highlighting the need for increased public outreach to raise awareness of Fresh AI’s capabilities as a Khmer-language research tool.

On 23 May 2025, Mr Lim Chea Vutha, CEO of Fresh News, officially announced the launch of Fresh AI — Cambodia’s first AI-powered news application in the Khmer language. The platform is built upon a comprehensive dataset of national and international news, comprising over 400 million words and more than 500,000 articles gathered over 11 years (2014–2025). This database is updated daily to enhance both the quantity and sophistication of the information.

Fresh AI delivers rapid responses by summarising content concisely and presenting search results across multiple news articles.

Lim Chea Vutha explained, “Fresh AI is a chatbot application dedicated exclusively to news and information. It is the first of its kind in Cambodia and marks another proud milestone for our Cambodian tech team. It is a source of national pride to have developed an AI application in the Khmer language. We will continue to expand and refine the platform to make it increasingly intelligent and beneficial. This is merely the initial launch phase, and ongoing development will follow.”

He added, “We now have three major innovations: the Fresh News platform, the CoolApp messaging platform, and the Fresh AI smart application,” underscoring the vision and leadership driving these technological advancements.
