(Phnom Penh): Jyotsana Varma, Country Director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Cambodia, praised Cambodia for its strong progress in the education sector.

Jyotsana Varma spoke on Wednesday (May 21) at the graduation of students and student teachers of the National Institute of Education.

The ADB country director underscored, "Cambodia has made strong progress in education, with better enrollment, completion, and learning outcomes. We congratulate the government on these achievements."

She underlined that, with the upgrade of the National Institute of Education and other ongoing reforms, we are confident that Cambodia will continue to improve its education system.

Jyotsana Varma noted that ADB will continue to support efforts to develop a highly skilled workforce through the skills development programs that are currently ongoing, including the Skills Development Funds that we are supporting and closer partnerships with industry.

She added that ADB will continue to mobilise financing and partnerships to build a quality education system and develop human capital for Cambodia's growth.

Varma also expressed her deep gratitude for the collaboration with the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, and all other stakeholders involved in this important project.
