Kampong Cham (FN), Dec. 21 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that the Royal Government of Cambodia does not merely express its love for the land on Facebook; it genuinely loves the country and works tirelessly to promote it on the international stage.
The premier spoke on Saturday (Dec. 21) at the inauguration ceremony declaring Kampong Cham Province as completing systematic land measurement and title deed distribution.
The opposition group consistently raises the issue of the border between Cambodia and its neighboring countries to create unrest, inciting anger among the Cambodian people towards the Royal Government, which has been diligently working to fulfill its duties and serve its citizens.
For instance, regarding the Cambodia-Laos-Viet Nam Development Triangle Area (CLV-DTA), the opposition sought to incite anger among the people by organizing an event on 18 August 2024, in an attempt to undermine the legitimate government. However, the Cambodian government successfully thwarted these efforts in a timely manner. After the CLV-DTA issue subsided, the opposition shifted its focus to Koh Kood, an area in dispute between Cambodia and Thailand, once again stirring discontent among the people, despite ongoing negotiations between the two governments.
Samdech Thipadei underscored, "They [Border Committee and border officers] love their country. They are working diligently to study and negotiate in order to resolve these issues peacefully. Do you only love your country abroad, while those at home don't? We love our country as well, and our love goes beyond Facebook posts. We genuinely love and protect Cambodia's territory, sovereignty, and independence. Not only do we protect it, but we also work to promote and strengthen it internationally. This is what the government, led by the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), is doing for the people. Please trust us."
The premier continued, "The Cambodian government has no time to engage in endless arguments with you. You protested the CLV-DTA issue, and once that was settled, you shifted to the Koh Kood issue to create more conflict... I truly admire a few individuals who claim to know everything. They insist they understand the topic better than the experts, explaining the dissertation of Minister Hang Chuon Naron more competently than the authors themselves... And then there are those who call themselves patriots, claiming that if you love the land, you must protect it. Some politicians... only seek to profit and deceive the people."
At the same time, Samdech Thipadei underlined that he does not have time to argue with opposition groups abroad, as millions of people in all sectors rely on the government. Civil servants also do not have time for these distractions; they are busy fulfilling their professional responsibilities.
