Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 20 – Cambodian Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn and Flerida Ann Camille P. Mayo, Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to Cambodia, reaffirmed the enduring and robust relationship between Cambodia and the Philippines, and underscored the commitment to strengthening cooperation across various sectors, during the envoy's courtesy call on 19 December 2024.
“Minister Prak Sokhonn recalled productive discussions between Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in September 2023 and March 2024. He discussed with Ambassador Mayo the preparations for Samdech Thipadei’s upcoming official visit to the Philippines next year and considered it an important opportunity for both countries to strengthen bilateral ties and expand cooperation, especially in trade and business,” according to the outcomes seen by Fresh News on Friday (Dec. 20).
“Both sides touched on the fruitful results of the 4th Meeting of the Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation in August this year, and expressed satisfaction with the growing bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, connectivity, and good collaboration in addressing transnational crimes such as cybercrimes. Minister Prak Sokhonn spoke with optimism that Cambodian rice exported to the Philippines will be in greater demand.
On connectivity, the two sides shared the view that the resumption of direct fights between Phnom Penh and Manila is contributing to stronger people-to-people link, with increasing tourism exchange between the two countries.”
