Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 19 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet decided to continue to offer tax incentives to local cement manufacturers to boost production and enhance competitiveness.

The premier received a courtesy call by the leaders of the Cambodian Cement Manufacturing Association, led by Ratchayut Kasemchaisiri, Country Director of SCG Cambodia, on 18 December 2024 at the Peace Palace.

During the meeting, Ratchayut Kasemchaisiri briefed Samdech Thipadei on the progress of the cement industry. He noted that member companies of the association have collectively invested over USD 1.2 billion and created more than 2,700 jobs, of which over 1,900 are for local workers. The association is capable of producing and distributing cement to meet domestic demand and export to some neighbouring countries, and it recently became a member of the ASEAN Federation of Cement Manufacturers (AFCM).

For his part, Samdech Thipadei expressed his appreciation for the progress and success of the Cambodian Cement Manufacturing Association, acknowledging its contributions to Cambodia’s socioeconomic development through job creation and the supply of quality, affordable cement.

The premier also highlighted the policies, measures, and incentives implemented by the Royal Government to ensure a favourable investment climate and improve the competitiveness of businesses operating in Cambodia.

In response to the association’s request, Samdech Thipadei decided to continue to offer tax incentives to domestic cement manufacturers. He assigned the Ministry of Economy and Finance, in collaboration with the Ministry of Mines and Energy, to study additional measures to submit for his approval. The aim is to further enhance the competitiveness and growth of the cement industry, ensuring the production of high-quality, affordable cement to benefit Cambodian consumers.
