Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 16 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet called on and encouraged informal economy workers to register in order to take advantage of various benefits that can improve their living standards and contribute to the country’s economic development.
The premier spoke on Monday (Dec. 16) at the launching of the digital platform for informal economy registration, held at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel.
Samdech Thipadei underscored, “I would like to call on and encourage informal economy workers to register to seize various benefits, improve their living standards, and actively participate in the process of national economic development.”
Samdech Thipadei continued, “I would also like to encourage relevant ministries and institutions, particularly the Coordinating Committee for Informal Economy Development, to continue their efforts in providing coordination and support. This should be done with a proactive approach, paying close attention and taking full responsibility in addressing any challenges that may arise following the inauguration and operation of this digital platform.”
The premier underlined that addressing challenges following the inauguration of this digital platform is crucial to ensuring convenience for citizens. This includes maintaining the platform’s efficiency and sustainability, as well as identifying and improving any shortcomings in its implementation through realistic and practical measures.
Samdech Thipadei added, "I would like to take this opportunity to remind ministries, institutions, and administrations at all levels of the national government to pay close attention to implementing the key measures outlined in the national strategy within their respective jurisdictions. Please consider strengthening support mechanisms to ensure that informal economy workers, particularly those in businesses and various occupations, receive the necessary attention, assistance, and care."
