Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 21 – Cambodian Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen called for understanding from the Supreme Patriarch, Buddhist monks, and the public regarding the postponement of appointing a new Great Supreme Patriarch to succeed the late Great Supreme Patriarch Tep Vong.

Speaking at the opening of the 32nd National Congress of Buddhist Monks, held on Thursday (Nov. 21) at the National Institute of Education, Samdech Techo acknowledged the significance of the decision and urged patience during this sensitive time.

Supreme Buddhist Patriarch Tep Vong passed away due to illness at the age of 93 on Monday at 5:40pm at Calmette Hospital, Phnom Penh.
