Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 13 – The National Incubation Center of Cambodia (NICC) marked two significant achievements yesterday (Nov. 12), reinforcing its commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in the Kingdom.

University Incubation Network Established

Five leading Cambodian universities signed a groundbreaking Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), launching the University Incubation Network. This collaboration, spearheaded by NICC at the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP), aims to standardize and enhance startup incubation across the nation.

The initiative was conceived and championed by Chet Chealy, Rector of the Royal University of Phnom Penh, and Sann Vathana, Secretary of State, Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport. Their visionary leadership has been instrumental in bringing this network to fruition.

Participating institutions include:

* Royal University of Phnom Penh
* Svay Rieng University
* University of Heng Samrin Thbongkhmum
* National University of CheaSim Kamchaymear
* National University of Battambang.

The MOU signing ceremony was presided over by Sann Vathana, underscoring the Ministry's strong support for this initiative.

NICC Startup Alumni and Graduation Ceremony

The same day saw the graduation of 20 startup teams from the 3rd, 4th, and 5th cohorts of the Bandos Digital Startup Competition. Since its establishment, NICC has successfully supported and incubated 31 startups, marking a significant contribution to Cambodia's entrepreneurial landscape. The ceremony featured success stories from alumni startups MOUY and SmartBox, inspiring the next generation of Cambodian entrepreneurs.

These milestones represent a leap forward for Cambodia's startup ecosystem. With 31 startups incubated to date, NICC has demonstrated its commitment to nurturing innovation. By uniting universities and celebrating graduates, NICC is building a stronger foundation for innovation in the Kingdom.

The events, supported by KOICA and KPC, underscore NICC's pivotal role in nurturing Cambodia's entrepreneurial talent and fostering collaboration between academia and industry.
