Kep (FN), Nov. 11 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet supported and appreciated the journalists who published the accurate news, which contributed to solving the problem at the local level quickly and ensuring that the public receives reliable information.
The premier spoke on Monday (Nov. 11) during an inauguration of the Techo Santepheap Angkol Beach Road at Kep province.
Samdech Thipadei noted that some problems have been resolved quickly at the grassroots level thanks to journalists who reported accurate information, enabling leadership to identify and address issues promptly. Therefore, Samdech Thipadei thanked and encouraged journalists to continue publishing truthful information for the benefit of the public and society.
The premier stated that Cambodia has over 10,000 journalists, including online journalists, and stressed the importance of disseminating factual information to the people.
At the same time, the premier urged media outlets to take responsibility for their news reports and correct any inaccuracies, ensuring that the public receives the truth and is not misled for any ulterior motive.
"Please publish information responsibly, with integrity and accuracy. News should not serve any other purpose. If there are mistakes, correct them. If information is incomplete, improve it. As professional, neutral journalists, avoid using information for personal or economic gain, as it can lead to defamation lawsuits," the premier underscored.
The premier also highlighted that while accurate news is widely disseminated, there is still a significant amount of fake news, which negatively impacts society and undermines the people's right to information. He reiterated that every citizen has the right to receive accurate information to understand their country.
