Kep (FN), Nov. 11 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that at every international meeting, whenever he meets with foreign leaders, there is a shared concern about false information and artificial intelligence (AI), which have the potential to create unrest in countries.

The premier spoke on Monday (Nov. 11) during an inauguration of the Techo Santepheap Angkol Beach Road at Kep province.

Samdech Thipadei underscored, "Whenever I attend meetings abroad and meet with leaders, one of the main concerns is fake news. Everyone is worried about AI, which can manipulate information. With AI, a person's appearance and voice can be imitated, and sometimes, it’s hard to distinguish the truth."

Samdech Thipadei also mentioned watching a segment on Channel News Asia, where a TikTok influencer with more than 20 million followers was discussed. In reality, these influencers are not real people but AI-generated personas. Despite this, they appear as real people, with voices and gestures that seem authentic.

Prime Minister Hun Manet added that the issue of fake news is similar. Sometimes, these fabricated stories may seem insignificant, but at times, they can grow into major falsehoods. In Western Europe, there are laws against those who spread misinformation with the intent to incite illegal actions.
