Kep (FN), Nov. 11 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet affirmed that he will continue to speak about peace tirelessly, until those critics dream of the word "peace."

The premier spoke on Monday (Nov. 11) during an inauguration of the Techo Santepheap Angkol Beach Road at Kep province.

According to Samdech Thipadei, without peace, no one would visit Kep; thus, it is essential that everyone works together to maintain it.

"Some countries claim that the Cambodian government talks about safeguarding peace at all costs just to threaten the opposition. I say no. When peace is lost, it’s not only the opposition or the government that suffers—the entire country suffers, including officials, CPP supporters, and members of every party. When there is war, it’s Cambodians killing Cambodians," the premier underscored.

The premier added that losing peace results in misery, death, and destruction. Protecting peace is not about threatening anyone; rather, it is a reminder for everyone to work together to safeguard their common interests, enabling them to live peacefully.

Samdech Thipadei continued, "Let us all protect peace so that we may live in harmony. I am willing to say this over and over again until it echoes in your dreams. That’s the goal—do not dream of war, as it leaves you sleepless. But if you dream of true peace, like visiting Rabbit Island, you’ll rest deeply. If you only imagine civil war, you’ll wake in the night. So, let’s avoid bad dreams by keeping peace alive, allowing us all to share sweet dreams."

Since the day of liberation on 7 January 1979, Cambodians’ lives began to improve, especially after the official end of the civil war on 29 December 1998. The Royal Government of Cambodia, led by the Cambodian People's Party, has shown an unwavering commitment to maintaining peace at all costs. Without peace, even human rights cannot be ensured.
