Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 8 – The Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC) issued a statement on Friday (Nov. 8) refuting claims by VOD Khmer that the institution was being sold to private traders under the pretext of a land exchange.

ITC clarified that no such sale or land deal is taking place. The institution is, in fact, expanding its infrastructure at its branch on Win-win Boulevard in Phnom Penh, not transferring ownership.

VOD Khmer had posted the false claim on social media platforms, including Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube, on 7 November 2024, asserting that ITC had been sold to private traders under the pretext of a land exchange.

In its response, ITC strongly rejected the baseless allegations, emphasizing that they are harmful to the reputation of public higher education institutions and contribute to public confusion.

Contrary to the misinformation, ITC’s main campus on Russian Federation Boulevard continues to enhance its facilities to support advanced research and training in engineering, science, and technology. The expansion on Win-win Boulevard is in line with ITC's mission to meet the growing demand for education and research, in support of the Royal Government’s policies.

ITC has called on VOD Khmer to issue a correction and retract the misleading information.
